New Post: Suggestion: Make it easier to view the data in the table.

When you have Azure Storage Explorer maximized and you're viewing Tables, you have to click on the table and move your mouse ALL the way to the right (which might be like 1900 pixels away) and click a tiny "Query" button to see results. It would be awesome if double-clicking on the table queried by default, or if there were a right-click query option on the list of tables on the left. I have to imagine that viewing is the most common thing people do with data so it makes sense to have a really easy way to do it.

When you query a table that has, say 3 pages, then go to a page other than the first, then go and query a table that has only 1 page, The display will not load the data since it still thinks its on the other pages, but you have no page control. So I had to go back to the other table, go to page 1, then query the other table again and I could then see the data.

So if somebody puts 100 lines long text into an Table Storage column, UI gets completely messed up while browsing records. There should be an option to truncate multiple lined strings to only one (or maybe a few, like 3) to ease scrolling and browsing the result set.

Please consider implementing this feature.

Hi there,

You can select a folder and then multi-select the blobs within that folder, however is it possible somehow to select the folder and download that without having to select the actual blobs? ideally be great to download multiple folders/content..

Seems not quite good to use, when browse table, there is no much features for easy browsing, and the basic paging doesn't work right, if you are on page 2 and delete, it will show blank if there are no data of more than one page.

when uploading a text file with accented characters like "é", "à", "ê". It replaces the character by a question mark (invalid character).

I'm working in a system that has hundreds of blob containers. The container list doesn't have scrollbars (although I'm fairly sure it used to in an earlier version).

This makes it impossible to find anything that's not in the first 20 or 30 containers.

Related to this, I'd prefer to simply not have the paging at all. I've just switched to the preview version from version 4 (I think) and the paging is, for me, a massive step backwards in usability. For the tasks for which I use the app, it's much less efficient. Sorry. :-/

Hi folks, I am using v5 Preview 1

I noticed that while browsing/editing table storage, Timestamp fields are shown as dates in results view as 3/20/2013 10:20:30 AM.

However if I double click on the record, Timestamp field is shown as type "string" and Value is truncated to 3/20/2013 (hour, minute and second is missing).

In fact, since Timestamp field is automatically updated (overwritten) by Azure Table Storage Service when the record is updated, then you might consider disabling editing for this Timestamp field (maybe make it shown as disabled). My 2¢. :)

New Post: Double clicking table names on sidebar may show some results

Hi guys I am here for an user experience improvement suggestion today.

When I connect to a storage account which has a few tables, in order to explore what are they,
I need to see some records in these storage tables.

However if I pick the table from left sidebar and to get some results, I need to move my mouse to far right of the screen and hit query. Maybe if query clause is empty, double clicking table name might show some results?

I have just did pattern (showed in screenshot below) 20 times in last 5 days since I am studying a codebase and figuring out tables etc, I think other people need that doubleclick browsing too.

Created Issue: Unable to access Azure table [8632]

I'm able to connect to the Azure store with the Azure Storage Explorer and view the blob store and three other tables, but when I try to connect to one particular table I get an error: "Only collections of entities are supported". I know there's data in the table, since I can access it with the Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Storage.Table library. If I clear the data from the table, the Explorer properly returns no data, but as soon as I add an entity I see the same error. The entity that's being saved only consists of five strings so I don't think that's the problem. This happens in with both the actual cloud storage as well as a local development instance.

I can't find any documentation about this error so I'm not sure where to start looking.

I made some two or more queries in the explorer in one table, then i select a different table made another query, at the upper side it says "5 entities" which is right but there are no visible records on the table display.

i try to close the explorer then open the table again, and this time it says "5 entities" and now it shows 5 records on the table display.

I hope this bug can be fix,

Azure explorer is really a very very great tool, nice job :)

Created Issue: Lack of globalization raising decimal input/output problem on Tables [8601]

When I show an Azure Tables Grid, if my globalization setting in Windows are set to English/US, entities that have fields with double data type show properly. If I have it set to Portuguese/Brazil, I get the wrong number, multiplied by 100. So 5.23 becomes 523.
The same problem happens on the entity details view.
